Whats all the fuss about cycle syncing?

Reclaim, Reconnect, and Rediscover: Embracing Your Natural Rhythms through Cycle Syncing

Hello, wonderful souls! It seems like ages since I last wrote to you. As a passionate menstrual cycle coach, I'm thrilled to talk to you about the transformative practice of cycle syncing, which is a hot topic in the menstruality world at the minute!

Today, I want to explore the positive aspects of cycle syncing, focusing on how it helps us reclaim our bodies, reconnect with our inner selves, and rediscover the beauty of our natural rhythms but also consider the challenges and potential pitfalls!

Really simply, cycle syncing is the practice of structuring your whole life around your cycle and your changing energy levels (Concept coined by Alissa Vitti). Let's get stuck in.

The Potential Benefits of Cycle Syncing:

  • Reclaiming Body Awareness:

Cycle syncing allows us to reclaim our bodies by tuning into our own experience of the changes throughout the menstrual cycle. It empowers us to take ownership of our bodies and reclaim the wisdom that resides within them.

  • Reconnecting with Inner Wisdom:

Through cycle syncing, we reconnect with our inner selves, nurturing a deeper connection with our intuition and inner wisdom. By embracing the cycles of our bodies, we can rediscover the power that lies within us.

  • Rediscovering Self-Care Rituals:

Cycle syncing invites us to rediscover self-care rituals tailored to each phase of our cycle. It encourages us to explore things that really nourish our mind, body, and soul, allowing us to honour our needs all cycle long, not just when we experience resistance, think inner autumn/winter!

  • Cultivating Mind-Body Harmony:

By aligning our actions and choices with our natural rhythms, we cultivate a sense of mind-body harmony. This integration promotes overall well-being, allowing us to really thrive.

Considerations for Cycle Syncing:

  • Individual Variation:

It's crucial to honour and acknowledge our individual variations when engaging in cycle syncing. Each person's menstrual cycle is unique, and adapting the practice to suit our own experiences is essential. The big red rule (Red School) is that your experience of the menstrual cycle trumps everything.

  • Flexibility and Adaptability:

Life's demands and unexpected events require flexibility and adaptability in our nervous systems and our cycle syncing routines. By embracing flexibility with our syncing we ensure that we can still meet our own needs whilst navigating our lives with self-compassion.

  • Embracing Self-Discovery:

Cycle syncing is an opportunity for self-discovery and exploration. To really get to know your unique rhythms. If we approach this practice with a playful curiosity, we allow ourselves to learn and grow as we uncover the nuances of our own unique cycles.

To Summarise:

There are of course some potential challenges to cycle syncing. You do have to know a little about your own cycle to be able to sync your life to it, which relies on some cycle tracking, which is the art of feeling into your energies of each day of your cycle over time. If you are new to this please see the simple cycle tracker and planner I have created for you to download below.

There is also a risk that cycle syncing becomes yet another things to add to the to do list, another framework to fit our already busy lives into, and that we get hung up on not syncing well enough! Or not doing it 'properly'! It's important to be mindful of this and let yourself explore it gently, but overall I think the benefits outweigh the negatives.

I really believe that by reclaiming, reconnecting, and rediscovering our natural rhythms through cycle syncing we can forge better relationships with ourselves. By embracing our bodies, nurturing our inner wisdom, and honouring our needs, we can unlock the transformative potential within us, for ourselves and the world!

With love,

Hannah
